Biography
British violinist Tasmin Little is internationally greatly in demand in the concert hall and recording studio and is also a popular personality on the television screen.

Born in 1965, Tasmin Little received a rigorous early schooling at the Yehudi Menuhin School and later won the Gold Medal at the Guildhall School of Music before continuing her studies with Lorand Fenyves in Toronto. An eclectic artist of rare versatility, she is equally at home in the famous concerto repertoire and neglected concerto and solo works from many countries, receiving acclaim from music lovers, critics and also connoisseurs of the violin. In concertos she works with some of today's most outstanding conductors such as Simon Rattle, Kurt Masur, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Leonard Slatkin, and Sir Charles Mackerras; orchestras include the Cleveland, Leipzig Gewandhaus, London Symphony, New York Philharmonic, and Philharmonia. In recitals Tasmin presents her programmes personally to her audiences, with a combination of information and informality that has created a wide and strong appeal.

Tasmin Little's many television appearances have included the Last Night of the Proms and a documentary programme she has written and presented herself on the music of Delius, whose violin concerto and sonatas are some of the many works she has recorded on CD.

Tasmin Little has also worked with many contemporary composers giving world premieres of concertos by Dominic Muldowney, Robert Saxton, Paul Barker and David Earl. These are now amongst her repertoire of over 40 concerti.

A lover of both the grand and the miniature, the virtuoso and the intimate, Tasmin Little's artistic tastes are reflected in the range of her music making which has won an extremely broad audience from demanding devotees of the violin to general easy listeners. In 2000 they can hear her in concerts and recitals all over the world.

Tasmin Little's discography includes acclaimed recordings of concerti by Brahms, Bruch, Delius, Dvorák, Lalo, Rubbra, Robert Saxton, Sibelius and Walton, sonatas by Debussy, Delius, George Lloyd, Poulenc, Dohnányi and Ravel, and virtuoso showpieces by Kreisler, Ravel, Sarasate and Wieniawski. Tasmin's first CD for GMN was released in Autumn 2000; partnered by Martin Roscoe, the disc couples the haunting Elgar sonata with the fiery Bax 2nd sonata.

Tasmin and her husband, recording engineer Mike Hatch, live in West London, giving them easy access to the capital's special theatre, cinema and concert life that are Tasmin's greatest loves, as, of course, are her 1757 Guadagnini violin and the music she performs.
