LONDON (September 6, 2001): This month leading arts website GMN (www.gmn.com) will launch four new services for consumers and arts industry professionals.
GMN’s ‘Classical Premium’, ‘Showcase’, ‘Live Collection’ and ‘Artists Directory’ (detailed below) will bring additional revenue streams to the company, which was launched in March, 1998.
Since its inception, GMN has maintained its position as the leading internet destination for Classical Music, Opera and Jazz, winning numerous prestigious awards and commendations, and building a significant and growing user base exceeding 200,000 registered visitors.
Despite the challenging marketplace for web businesses, over the last 12 months GMN has more than doubled its user base, visitor session lengths and media plays. Its recent growth to become the GMN Arts Network, integrating an arts portal and the specialist ClassicalPlus and JazzPlus websites, has further expanded its reach.
The acquisition of certain exclusive commercial exploitation rights to the intellectual property portfolio of the 3 Tenors late last year will realise significant revenues over the initial five-year term, and GMN is also on the verge of announcing a unique content partnership of supreme significance to the Jazz industry.
Now poised to exploit new opportunities in the changing internet music marketplace, GMN will this month deliver a range of new B2B and B2C services:
GMN Classical Premium
GMN's new Classical Music subscription service features high-speed streaming, hot-off-the-press CD release information, downloads, recommendations and choice of free monthly CDs - for those who desire a superior service over and above GMN's extensive free content. GMN Jazz Premium will follow.
GMN Live Collection
Exclusive, live GMN recordings, unavailable in any other recorded form, are to be burned onto CD for GMN visitors. 12 live concerts will be released each month to meet the demand for GMN's hallmark webcasts in CD format. The first batch released includes the Beethoven Piano Sonata series performed by Peter Donohoe, and Dohnányi conducting the Philharmonia in Brahms’ Requiem.
GMN Showcase
Providing the technology and framework to promote event programs online with audio and video samples, GMN Showcase will be targeted at venues and performing arts companies. A low-cost and uncomplicated service, GMN Showcase will enable venues to better promote their events, by adding links to media which illustrates the performance.
GMN Artists Directory
A directory service providing free promotional listings for all performing artists, and a range of options for those who require a web page and links to recordings, the GMN Artists Directory will provide a valuable resource for those seeking comprehensive artist listings and information.
Mike Lubin, CEO and Founder of GMN, says the new services will tap into several markets that GMN is strategically targeting. "Having built up an extensive user base, and consolidated our position on the web, we are ready to implement the next stage of our long-term strategic plan,” he commented.
GMN Artistic Director and Founder, David Atherton says the new services have been created to meet market demand and are a logical extension of GMN's activity. "GMN has built up valuable assets over its three-plus years of existence. Our extensive archive of valuable, exclusive, audio and video recordings, and our highly commended streaming expertise and technology are just a few of these.”
The first GMN ‘Live Collection’ recordings were last week released to GMN visitors. ‘Showcase’ is to be made public this week, with ‘Classical Premium’ and ‘Artists Directory’ to be launched later this month.
