17th Annual Cape May Jazz Festival
The 17th Cape May Jazz Festival, "A Tribute to the Music of Miles Davis" is coming up this week and weekend and evening passes are still available. Call 1-800-595-4TIX (4849) or log on to www.capemayjazz.org to order tickets. Come to this historic seaside resort at the southern tip of New Jersey and experience the best in jazz.

The event begins 7:30 PM Friday April 19 with 2 shows by the Heath Brothers and special guest Jackie McLean in Cape May's Convention Hall Auditorium. This hall forms the centerpiece for the festival, and you can purchase passes right there. Then, various clubs and ballrooms around town host great acts - on Friday see the Russell Malone Quartet, Bootsie Barnes with Duane Eubanksand Denise King, The Webb Thomas Project, Edgardo Cintron's Latin Jazz Sextet featuring Winston Byrd, The Barbara Walker Story and Sam Taylor Blues Band featuring Heather Hardy.

Groups play 3 sets so you can catch a fine dose of jazz and blues.

Saturday April 20 beginning at noon Weekend Pass holders partake of two rooms of jazz jams - featuring some of the headliners above - as well as a club of a heady blues jam. Then Saturday night rips with EARLY FUSION BAND led by Joe Chambers, with Wallace Roney and Bill Evans; LEGENDS OF THE BANDSTAND with David "Fathead" Newman, Curtis Fuller, Buster Williams, Cedar Walton & Louis Hayes; Mose Allison's Trio at the yacht club and Jimmy Cobb's Mob downtown. Dave Liebman, Monnette Sudler and Lenora Zenzalai Helm lead their ensembles, and Brian Trainor and Gary Bartz rediscover "Kind of Blue".
