Singer, Ben Heppner has cancelled the remainder of his North American tour, it was announced today by the Heldentenor’s manager at Columbia Artists (CAMI).
The statement continues, “With deep regret Ben Heppner must cancel his U.S. concert tour. He is ill with laryngitis. After consultation with his doctor and his vocal coach, Mr. Heppner decided it is best that he remain home so that he can insure a complete recovery before resuming his singing engagements.”
This is not the first time the tenor, much in demand for the most taxing roles in the tenor repertory, has had to cancel due to laryngitis. A complete rest may see him well enough to begin preparations for his performances of one of ther biggest of all tenor parts, Tristan from Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, which Heppner is scheduled to sing in April at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, England.
