Recording future unclear for Warner artists
A list of top artists have been left without a recording company following alleged plans to lay off more staff at Warner Classics and cease new classical recording on Erato and Teldec, it has been claimed.

Artists including Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Kent Nagano, Hélène Grimaud, Chanticleer, and William Christie and Les Arts Florissants have been identified by MusicalAmerica.com as some of those who will be affected.

The site says that Warner Music International is laying off ten more employees at Warner Classics International. It says an official statement about the "restructuring" at WCI is due from the company presently.

In March, Warner closed the headquarters of Erato and Teldec in Paris and Hamburg and consolidated their operations with WCI's London office, laying off at least 60 employees.

The artists named were unavailable for comment as GMN News went to press.
