Lehár - Das Land des Lächelns: Dein ist mein ganzes Herz

Franz Lehár's star singer was the tenor Richard Tauber. His reputation and popularity was such that Lehár always ensured that his operettas included a hallmark tune for Tauber to sing, which would continue the success of the production even after it had left the stage. The 'Tauber Song' of Das Land des Lächelns (The Land of Smiles) is 'Dein ist mein ganzes Herz'. It occurs as the enigmatic Sou-Chong has returned to China with his Viennese wife Lisa, and has been advised by his uncle that, by tradition, he ought to have four wives. Sou-Chong rejects the idea and sings this ever-popular aria in response.
